The Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), under the leadership of the First Lady of Nigeria, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has unveiled the RHI Green Nigeria Challenge — a nationwide environmental campaign rallying Nigerians around a single, powerful motto: “Go Green Today for a Greener Tomorrow.”
The Challenge calls on households, communities and states across the country to take practical action — from tree planting to the transformation of degraded spaces into thriving green environments — with major cash prizes awarded across three categories.
Challenge Categories
1. Households
Focus: Tree Planting
Eligibility: Households in Northern Nigeria frontline states (Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Sokoto, Yobe and Zamfara)
Prize: ₦20,000,000 (Twenty Million Naira)
Submission Deadline: 20th December, 2026
2. Community
Focus: Green Transformation Challenge — transformation of degraded community areas (e.g. dumpsites and abandoned areas) into green parks, gardens or eco-spaces
Eligibility: Local Governments, Local Communities, Youth Groups, Schools and NGOs
Prize: ₦50,000,000 (Fifty Million Naira)
Submission Deadline: 15th July, 2026
3. States
Focus: State Tree Planting
Eligibility: Open to all Nigerians across the 36 states and the FCT (except Enugu State, which has already been recognised by RHI as the “Model Green State” with a reward of ₦100,000,000)
Prize: ₦100,000,000 (One Hundred Million Naira)
